History

Our History

The Tamil Nadu Blind Football Association (TNBFA) was founded in 2019 by Mr. Bharathiraja G.R., a passionate advocate for inclusivity in sports. What began as a humble initiative to empower visually impaired individuals through football has grown into a recognized force driving change across Tamil Nadu.

Inspired by the transformative power of sports, Bharathiraja collaborated with Coach Francis Sebastian, a pioneer in blind football training in India. Together, they began organizing local training camps, reaching out to visually impaired youth, and building a strong foundation of skill, confidence, and community.

A landmark moment in TNBFA’s journey came in October 2021, when we proudly hosted Tamil Nadu’s first-ever National Blind Football Championship for both men and women in Chennai.

This milestone event, attended by teams from across the country, showcased the talent, resilience, and competitive spirit of blind footballers – putting Tamil Nadu firmly on the national map.

From one state to many hearts, our story is one of breaking barriers, scoring dreams, and lighting the path forward – one goal at a time.
