1. Our Commitment

At Tamil Nadu Blind Football Association (TNBFA), we are committed to creating safe, inclusive, and respectful environments where children feel protected, valued, and able to participate fully. We believe every child has the right to be treated with dignity and to be protected from harm, abuse, neglect, and exploitation in all our activities and programs.
Safeguarding is a shared responsibility, and we are committed to learning, improving, and strengthening our practices over time.

2. Purpose of This Policy

This policy helps us to:

  • Clearly state our commitment to keeping children safe
  • Guide staff, volunteers, and coaches on safe and respectful behaviour
  • Support early identification and reporting of safeguarding concerns
  • Provide a foundation that can be reviewed and strengthened each year

3. Who This Policy Applies To

This policy applies to all staff, volunteers, coaches, facilitators, interns, and representatives of Tamil Nadu Blind Football Association (TNBFA), as well as anyone working on our behalf who has contact with children.

4. Definition of a Child

For the purpose of this policy, a child is any person under the age of 18 years.

5. Our Code of Safe Conduct

Everyone working with children in Tamil Nadu Blind Football Association (TNBFA) is expected to:

  • Treat all children with respect, kindness, and fairness
  • Respect personal boundaries and use appropriate language and behaviour
  • Avoid any action that could harm, shame, exploit, or frighten a child
  • Never engage in physical, emotional, or sexual abuse

6. Training and Awareness

All staff and volunteers will receive child safeguarding training appropriate to their role and context. How many times in a year?

This may include:

  • Online safeguarding training
  • In-person or organization-led sessions
  • Orientation or refresher discussions
  • We commit to building safeguarding awareness gradually and practically, in ways that fit our local context.

7. Reporting Concerns

  • Any concern, suspicion, or disclosure related to a child’s safety must be taken seriously.
  • Concerns should be reported to our Safeguarding Focal Point.
  • Where required, concerns will also be reported in line with local child protection laws and authorities.

8. Confidentiality

Safeguarding concerns will be handled with care and confidentiality. Information will only be shared with those who need to know in order to keep the child safe and take appropriate action.

9. Responding to Concerns

Tamil Nadu Blind Football Association (TNBFA)  is committed to responding calmly, respectfully, and promptly to safeguarding concerns. Our priority is always the safety and well-being of the child.

10. Review and Learning

This policy will be reviewed at least once a year, or sooner if needed. We see safeguarding as a learning process and will strengthen this policy based on experience, reflection, and guidance.
